June 2012 - Cigar Box Kaleidoscope (Boyd Wright)

Description: These kaleidoscopes are a limited edition series crafted using empty (used) cigar boxes and copper tubing to make a body for an object chamber wheel kaleidoscope.  The cigar box is sealed to protect the mirror assembly.

Dimensions Vary: 7 1/2 to 12 inches long by 5 3/4 to 10 1/2 inches wide by 2 to 3 inches thick.

Interior Image: Three mirror 60-60-60 equilateral triangle image created using front-surface mirrors.

Objects:  A mixture of brightly colored, various shaped glass gems and other objects.

Miscellaneous: It is believed that only Boyd Wright makes kaleidoscopes out of cigar boxes. [Editor's note: Skeeter and Peter DeMattia of Originals by Skeeter used to make Cigar Box kaleidoscopes but no longer make them]
